Museums and permanent exhibitions

The best way to learn about particular matsuri is to experience it yourself, but some of the festivals have their own separate museums in which you can see the floats, decoractions, videos and explanations about particular event.

  • Kishiwada Danjiri Kaikan (岸和田だんじり会館 kishiwada danjiri kaikan) has a big screen with loud speakers giving you unique possibility to see the Kishiwada Danjiri Festival from the perspective or participants (like footage from a camera mounted on a danjiri float), in addition a room with drums allows you to play and listen to the danjiri rhythms
  • Hikiyama Museum in Nagahama (曳山博物館 hikiyama hakubutsukan) displays two large festival floats, panels with information about the festival and videos showing preparations to the Nagahama Hikiyama Matsuri.
